All summer long we have had the pleasure of working with two new summer students. They are helping us with our labour outreach & organizing. Read all about them.

Omar is currently a 4th year undergraduate student at Western University in London, Ontario. Prior to joining the North Simcoe Muskoka and Barrie and District Labour Council, he worked at Life From Water Canada as a Business Development Specialist where he focused on developing partnerships to deliver water solutions in east Africa and Indigenous communities in Canada. Omar had also been a part of research projects in Louisiana and Iraq with the latter resulting in a peer reviewed publication in The British Medical Journal.

Alex is a recent honours graduate of Trent University attaining a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with minors in media studies and computer studies. Alex specialized in Marketing and Consumer Culture through studying digital marketing, market research, advertising, and branding. Applying these skills, he has worked in a variety of fields to help bring awareness for events and issues in his local community. He continues to work diligently in several community projects and aims to use his skills to help drive engagement from others in the community.
